Like me, you also seem a supercar fan and looking for interesting information about the Lamborghini Urus. Well, the Italian automobile manufacturer launched its second SUV in the Global as well as the Indian market on December 4, 2017.

It comes with a starting price of 3.00 crore ($ 200,000) (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and is tagged as one of the fastest SUVs on the planet Earth. The Urus does 0-100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and is limited to a top speed of 300+ kmph.

The top speed of the Lamborghini Urus is 305 kmph. According to the manufacturer, Lamborghini Urus can hit 0-100 kmph in merely 3.6 seconds. The supersport utility vehicle reaches 0-200 kmph in 12.8 seconds.

Tagged as one of the most powerful SUVs in the world. Lamborghini Urus comes bolted with a 4.0-litre, V8 twin-turbo petrol engine. This turbocharged petrol engine is competent to deliver 650 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and a healthy torque of 850 nm at 2,250 – 4,500 rpm, making the best power-to-weight ratio and most powerful SUV on the planet Earth.

In transmission, power is sent to all wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. To manage raw power, the driver gets different drive modes like – SPORT, CORSA, NEVE, SABBIA, and last, the EGO.

2. First SUV Since the LM002

The Urus is Lamborghini’s first SUV since the LM002, which was produced in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The LM002 was a rugged, military-inspired off-road vehicle, while the Urus is a more modern, performance-oriented SUV.

3. Urus Uses a 4-Wheel Steering System

Urus comes fitted with a non-conventional 4-wheel steering system.

In traditional steering, the front wheels determine the direction of the vehicle. The car’s nose moves in the direction the wheels are pointing, whether it’s to the left or right. The rear wheels remain stationary on their axis and follow the direction of the front wheels. 4-wheel steering has two different modes of operation.

High speed: All wheels work in the same sympathy. This helps Urus to maintain agility and perform better while cornering.

Slow speed: It’s a different situation, now the rear wheels go against the front wheels. This gives the Urus SUV a right turning radius and helps to manoeuvre in tight spaces.

The company has designed and manufactured a massive set of carbon-ceramic rotors that help the supercar to stop from 100 kmph to 0 in 33.7 meters.

The front set of wheels gets a 440 mm (17.32 in) disc rotor with 10 lightweight aluminium pistons. Whereas, the smaller rear rotor is 370 mm (14.57 in) in size and comes with 6 pistons.

No matter what the figure says, you will need a high-performance brake’s set up to stop this 2.2-tonne sports SUV.

The engineers at Lamborghini wanted to transfer maximum power to the wheels rather than just towing the weight of the SUV. Thanks to all-steel, carbon fiber, and aluminium construction, Urus became the first SUV to deliver the best power-to-weight ratio on the planet Earth.

This time, Lambo has done something unusual. They have neither used a V12 nor a V10. Instead used a turbocharged V8 engine.

Let me ask why they opted for this.

The overall strategy was to make the SUV lightweight. So, instead of using a massive V10 OR V12, they picked a small V8 with two turbochargers.

Here, these turbochargers with V8 is delivering the same output as it does in more significant engines. But, problems come gifted with turbochargers. Although the quick shifters won’t let you feel any turbo lag yes, there’s a presence of turbo lag.

13. Lamborghini Urus Name origins from a Cattle breed known as Aurochs

You might don’t know that Lamborghini Automobiles has a beautiful history of naming its supercars on different cattle breeds.

Lamborghini has named their new SUV on the extinct cattle breed. Urus has been taken from Aurochs, a rare wild ox breed founded in Europe, Asia, and North Africa.

From Gallardo to Huracan, all of these names were also based on different breeds.
