In terms of an IC engine, the Project ONE comes fitted with a modified 1.6-litre, V6 turbocharged gasoline engine with 4-valves/cylinder and 4-overhead camshafts. This small yet powerful engine churns out a good 558 kW or 748 hp of power. According to the Mercedes, due to excess performance, the engine will last for 50,000 km only. Once you reach the limit, the owner has to return the engine for refurbishment.

Coming to the electric motors, the hybrid electric car gets 4 of them. Each motor has been designed with different functionalities and power outputs. According to the AMG team, the first motor with a power output of 121 hp has been integrated into the turbocharger. The second motor that propels the output of 161 hp has been installed into the engine and linked to the crankshaft. Finally remaining 2 motors, which also have 161 hp of power output, each of them has been mated to the front wheels.

  1. No longer “turbo”…more “super” (it’s a powered turbine now). 121HP super charger on a 1.6L…I would love to see some thermo and fluids numbers on this engine. The exhaust should have a measurable thrust.
