The experimental electric car is a result of the collaboration between 3 Ohio State University’ students and Venturi, an electric vehicle manufacturer based in Monaco. Hats off to the engineering team of The Ohio State University and Venturi motors. The record they made is unbeatable. The real motivation behind the idea was to push electric vehicles to create awareness about the environment and to provide knowledge as well as learning opportunity to the students.

After completion of the project, now it was exam time. On Sept. 19, 2016, the VBB3 achieved a new world record of 549.4 km/h in the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah also known as the mecca for land speed racing.
Everything from brakes, suspension and etc. has designed and calibrated by the group of 3 students and various engineering teams that helped to make this impossible thing possible.
The Buckeye Bullet 3 has bolted with 2 custom designed AC motors that produce more than 3000 bhp and a max torque of 3050* Nm. Although, there is no specific number revealed by Venturi motors. Coming to the power source, the electric vehicle has gotten 2000 battery cells that have broken down into 8 separate battery packs. These Prismatic Lithium-Ion Battery Modules comes from A123 Company and carries approximately 45% of the total weight of Buckeye Bullet 3.

The power gets transmitted to all wheels via multiple gearboxes. In terms of braking, the Buckeye Bullet 3 comes equipped with multiple parachutes. However, parachute sometimes doesn’t work properly and results in crashes. Therefore the team designed mechanical brakes to give assistance or act independently while braking. These are not so ordinary brakes, the system carries 4 rotors and 5 stators per each brake unit with 6 hydraulic pistons.

Almost all of these are concept cars, and their acceleration and top speed are not confirmed. Also, Rimac Automobili is a fraud, they are saying they make everything themselves in-house, but for example, they are buying electric motors from am racing, and then sell them as theirs. Also, Ivan Rimac (his father) who gave the starting capital, was the president of the supervisory board of Rimac Automobili is a known criminal that has been wanted by the Interpol for tax evasion in Germany, and has been in jail in Serbia and Croatia, for many other cases, and has been a part of devastating Croatia in collaboration with some of the most prominent Croatian politicians. Fun fact, Mate Rimac announced they are making electric yachts, and on the TV interview, he said he is building a flying car.

Very nice article and good info on the cars. Seems the Roadster would be the best to get because of the driving range, but the Lotus Evija would be good also (to me) because of it’s super quick charging rate.
